customer profile
name: bobalicious (bobalicious facebook page)
business type: boba tea shop
location: san diego, california
background: a popular boba shop upgraded from messy stamp cards to fivestars
i could have given you a little bit of background on bobalicious, but why do that when the owner, andy, can articulate their boba tea loyalty program’s success so much better!
before fivestars, we were using a stamp card and it was much more of a headache. people were constantly losing their cards and collecting multiples. we had one customer this week come in with exactly 47 saved stamp cards so he could convert finally them onto fivestars. it was a lot more difficult for our employees to keep track, and management personnel to monitor. now our customers love how easy it is to use and our employees don’t have to spend so much time waiting for someone to look through their wallet for the stamp card. we can also check the results daily or weekly to minimize any room for error (unlike punchcards).
fivestars has also made our transactions much more personable. now when a customer comes in, we can say things like ‘would you like your usual cynthia?’ also the customer notes are very helpful, we’ve been keeping track of drinks that our regulars order, so now when they enter our store we can ask ‘do you want the lychee slush again this time or do you want to try something different?’ we’ve always been very personable with our customers, but fivestars has taken things to an entirely different level. customers (especially newer ones) love this treatment.
people also get very excited about their birthday rewards. a lot of our customers come in on their birthday to get a free drink and they are overjoyed. it’s also a great selling point that our cashiers use to sign people up, by letting them know that they get a free drink on their birthday and other special promotions when they sign up. virtually everyone that comes in signs up.”
results: an increase in customer visits without slowing down the line
we have seen a definite increase in customer visits since launching fivestars three months ago. our regulars are coming in more often than before and we see new faces returning regularly as well. at first we were hesitant about fivestars; we have a high volume of customers at almost all hours of the day and we were worried about slowing down the lines.
if anything, our lines move a lot quicker now because people either scan their card or enter their number as opposed to digging around for a punch card. fivestars also allowed us to do something that we couldn’t do with our punch card, which was add a bobalicious t-shirt to the reward when someone reaches 33 points. since adding that reward, we’ve seen people saving up more of their points and coming in more often so that they can get the t-shirt.
overall, fivestars was one of the best decisions we have made for our business.”
thank you so much andy for the kind words!
